Former finance lobbyist is now Sinema's senior adviser

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Oct. 11, 2013

A freshman Democrat has hired a former lobbyist and banking industry official to become her new finance legislative assistant.

Alyssa Marois is now Rep. Kyrsten Sinema's (D-Ariz.) senior policy adviser on finance, foreign trade and housing. Prior to her return to Capitol Hill, Marois managed government affairs for PNC Bank Corp. last year, where she served as the vice president of government affairs. She has also promoted transportation issues as the director of government affairs for the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and housing, tax and insurance-related polices while employed as the American Land Title Association's director of government affairs. Only in the latter job from 2009-2010 did she register as a federal lobbyist.

This is not Marois' first job with the federal government either. She was first an intern for Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) before becoming Sen. Ben Nelson's (D-Neb.) legislative assistant for banking, finance, taxation, budget, housing, judiciary and social welfare issues.
