Economist returns to the Joint Committee on Taxation after stint in private sector

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Nov. 5, 2013

A familiar face on Capitol Hill has returned after a year-long break as PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's managing director.

Chris Giosa has returned as an economist with the Joint Committee on Taxation for a second time. After a decade with the committee, Giosa joined the House Ways and Means Committee in 2004, eventually becoming chief economist and tax adviser. In 2011, he assisted Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, better known as the budget supercommittee. Following the supercommittee's failure to resolve the national deficit, Giosa joined the IRS, serving as an economist and the initiative manager for the agency's Office of Compliance Analytics.

For the past year, Giosa was the managing director for PwC's National Economic and Statistics Group, which consults corporations, industry associations, non-profits and the government on health, tax and other economic issue areas.
