Ways and Means' health counsel checks in with docs associations

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Nov. 8, 2013

An experienced health attorney is the newest government relations representative for the American Academy of Family Physicians after three years on the Hill.

Andrew Adair advised Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) and the House Ways and Means, Health Subcommittee as a legislative counsel and a health counsel, respectively. Before taking his talents to the Capitol, Adair was an associate attorney for Mayer Brown LLP and Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP. During his courtroom days, Adair represented various clients in anti-trust litigation cases involving the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Health and Human Services.

The American Academy of Family Physicians, a Leawood, Kan.-based association, has promoted family health care since 1947. Though the AAFP publically supports the Affordable Care Act, it has also stated that the law needs to be significantly improved in order to be successful in achieving near-universal coverage.
