Loretta Sanchez's new chief is signed, sealed, ready to be delivered

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Dec. 10, 2013

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) gave her stamp of approval with the hiring of her new chief of staff.

Jennifer Alvarez Warburton officially will return to the Hill in January to fill the void left by the departure of Adrienne Elrod. Warburton is being shipped from the National Association of Letter Carriers for her first time on the Hill. The NALC, which represents urban mail carriers, presses for friendly working conditions for postal workers. As the association's director of legislative and political affairs, Warburton lobbied for USPS-related bills, including most recently the passage of H.R. 961 - the U.S. Postal Service Stabilization Act of 2013. Before NALC, she was director of government relations at the U.S. Postal Service.

Sanchez is a co-sponsor of this piece of legislation, which was referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in March. The U.S. Postal Service reported a third quarter loss of $740 million.
