Rep. Lowey's approps committee aide comes with experience

Posted by Katie Barrows on Feb. 13, 2014

A House appropriations aide has returned after a three-year break off the Hill.

Stephen Steigleder has been hired as a staff assistant for the House Appropriations Committee under Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.). Unlike in most offices where a staff assistant connotes the most junior of staffers, a staff assistant on the House Appropriations Committee is a job of more importance.

Steigleder previously served on the Appropriations Committee's Labor Subcommittee as staff assistant from 2009 to 2011. In between his jobs on the Hill, Steigleder worked as a policy analyst for the Center for American Progress and as a senior legislative officer for the U.S. Department of Labor.

Steigleder holds a bachelor's from Santa Clara University and a MPP from Georgtown University.
