Rep. Peters chooses advocate as liaison

Posted by Nate Hoffman on Feb. 25, 2014

A pro-choice legislator has hired a young woman who spoke out on national television about her own choice to have an abortion.

Katie Stack, a new congressional liaison in Rep. Gary Peters' (D-Mich.) Detroit office, appeared on a 2010 MTV special, "No Easy Decision," with Dr. Drew Pinsky. During the special, she and two other young women, discussed their personal experiences with how they made the decision to have an abortion at an early age. For Stack, watching her younger sister struggle with a teen pregnancy at the time was a major factor in her decision-making process.

Since her television appearance, Stack has earned her master's degree in gender and women's studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has also been a speaker for the Jodi F. Solomon Speakers Bureau, where she addressed audiences on abortion-related issues.

Peters is a member of the House Pro-Choice Caucus. He has consistently voted for pro-choice legislation, which has earned him a perfect 100 on NARAL Pro-Choice America's pro-choice score.
