Sen. Gillibrand's former adviser banks in on K St. job

Posted by Nate Hoffman on March 13, 2014

A former senior adviser for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) has cashed in his congressional experience for his corporate position with Barclays Bank plc.

Andrew Borchini served as the Democrat's special assistant for community affairs and policy adviser for the past two years. Last month, he joined Barclays as the vice president of political law compliance. Most recently, Barclays lobbied Congress on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, specifically issues related to securitization, capital requirements and other aspects of the piece of legislation. Gillibrand voted in favor of the law back in 2010. Borchini has not registered as a lobbyist yet, however.

The last time Borchini was working off the Hill, he was an associate at Boies, Schiller and Flexner LLP. The Burke, Va. native earned his BA from the University of Virginia, his certificate in business and public policy from the Wharton School and his JD from Penn Law School.
