Trump adviser Mike Flynn's firm files to lobby

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 3, 2016

Two years after Michael Flynn, Donald Trump's most prominent military adviser, founded the Flynn Intel Group, the company has disclosed its first federal lobbying work for a low-profile Dutch company.

The lobbying filing, released this weekend, says Flynn's firm will be doing "organization consulting" on behalf of Inovo BV. Why "organization consulting" would require a federal lobbying disclosure is not made clear.

Nor is it entirely clear who is behind the Dutch company or what its purpose is. The address listed for Inovo in the lobbying filing is in a different city than a similarly named Dutch company called In Ovo BV, which has created technology to separate chicken eggs based on gender.  Another company called Inovo BV was founded in 2005 by Dutch and Turkish politicial figures to attract Dutch investors in Turkish businesses, but it doesn't have an online presence and it's not clear whether it still exists.

The lobbying work was assigned to Flynn Intel general counsel Robert Kelley, ex-chief of staff to former Sen. Charles Mathias (R-Md.) and chief counsel to the House's National Security Subcommittee. Flynn, a former Army lieutenant general and director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, is not listed on the filing.
