Former Rep. Moran lobbying for immigrant healthcare group

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 18, 2016

Former Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) is lobbying on behalf of an organization that evaluates foreign physical therapists hoping to immigrate to the United States.

McDermott Will and Emery director Kam Quarles joins Moran to lobby on "issues related to physical therapy education certification." Moran has worked as a senior legislative adviser at McDermott Will and Emery since his retirement from Congress in 2015.

The Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy verifies credentials and issues certificates to foreign-educated physical therapists and physical-therapist assistants who wish to work and/or immigrate to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services requires foreign physical therapists to obtain the certificate in order to perform their professional services in the U.S.
