Children's group adds Sen. Blumenthal chief

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 3, 2017

A children's advocacy group picked up Sen. Richard Blumenthal's (D-Conn.) longtime chief of staff, a former family-issues lobbyist.

Laurie Rubiner is now president and CEO of the California-based Alliance for Children's Rights. The group focuses on providing foster-care legal services, training and advocacy.

Rubiner came to Blumenthal's office as chief of staff in 2011 after working as a lobbyist for Planned Parenthood and the National Partnership for Woman and Families and as legislative director to former Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).

Joel Kelsey, with Blumenthal since 2013, takes Rubiner's place as the senator's chief of staff.
