Exiled Russian oligarch hires BGR

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Jan. 23, 2018

The Bank of Moscow's former president, a wealthy Russian fugitive now living in the United Kingdom, has hired BGR Government Affairs to lobby on his behalf.

BGR Government Affairs, a BGR Group subsidiary, has lobbied for Andrey Borodin on unspecified visa issues since November, according to a disclosure filed yesterday. BGR has assigned Haley Barbour, former Mississippi governor and Republican National Committee chair, and Maya Seiden, a former State Department aide under Secretary Hillary Clinton.

Borodin, who has fallen out of favor with President Vladimir Putin, fled Russia for the U.K. following accusations that the he had committed fraud against the Bank of Moscow. In 2015, British police reportedly warned Borodin of an assassination plot against the banker.
