Hyperloop lobby makes stop in Washington

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on April 24, 2018

Another company is testing the premise that politics abhors a vacuum.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is the second group in a year lobbying the federal government to make hyperloop — the proposed system that would use partial vacuums to transport objects and people at ultra-high speeds — a reality. The start-up has hired G2G Consulting to "educate and advocate for hyperloop," according to a disclosure released yesterday. HTT is reportedly in talks with government officials about building a route that would connect Chicago, Ill. and Cleveland, Ohio.

Last year, the unrelated Virgin Hyperloop One also hit up the federal government, hiring Jochum Shore & Trossevin to "educate" Congress on the much-hyped system.

Neither Virgin Hyperloop One nor NTT is affiliated with Elon Musk, who popularized the hyperloop concept.
