Bosnian separatist party hires ex-Trump aides

Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Aug. 2, 2018

A Russia-supported Bosnian separatist party has hired a pair of former Trump campaign aides as foreign agents.

Jason Osborne and Mike Rubino are working for the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), which advocates for Serbian separation. The New York Times describes Russian President Vladimir Putin as one the closest allies to SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, who is under U.S. Treasury Department sanctions.

Osborne and Rubino are performing unspecified "strategic guidance and counsel with regard to government affairs and public relations activity within the U.S." for the SNSD, according to a disclosure recently filed with the Justice Department.

The two both worked as senior advisers to Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and former lobbyists at Avenue Strategies. Osborne and Rubino left Avenue Strategies sometime after co-founder Corey Lewandowski, Trump's former campaign manager, faced criticism over his failure to register as a lobbyist. The pair co-founded another lobbying shop, Turnberry Solutions, before registering Twin Rocks Global last month. This is the first filing that mentions the new firm.
