* Marked salary data appeared in the official records from the listed fiscal year even though it pertains to a different fiscal year.

Congressional staff salaries shown are the amount paid in the period shown. They are not annual salaries. Because bonuses may be included here and other payments may not be (most notably with aides working for multiple offices or for a political campaign committee), please use caution in extrapolating annual salaries from the figures shown here.

We have taken great care to have this website reflect the official record, but we have discovered a handful of errors both in the official record and our own transcription. If you believe our information is in error, please let us know so we can fix it as soon as possible. We take accuracy very seriously.

I hope you're happy with yourself and being known forever as the biggest bitch in the world, Liz.

Hi, Liz!

As a taxpayer from Washington State, my mouth literally dropped open when I saw that this crazy bitch from Hell makes nearly $99,000 a year. How is that possible??? She is nothing more than a secretary (oh sorry, the PC word is "executive assistant"), but whatever title you use she doesn't deserve more than what a janitor (oops, I mean "sanitary engineer") would make...like maybe $40,000? No wonder this country is trillions of dollars in debt. I am disgusted

My name is Elizabeth, but I go by both Liz and Elizabeth and by my close friends, Lizy when they want me to feel loved. That does not seem to be an issue for you. I'm offended tha dollars and get back to work. You are an embarrassment to all the Liz's, Lizy's and Elizabeth's out there. You seem to want to project a "classy" image with the exclusive use of Elizabeth, unfortunately, your tirade belied your true lack of class. You will never be part of our club. Please change your name.

Ms. Becton: You need to lighten up. Wow. My name is Timothy, but I am referred to as Tim, Timmy, Timbo, and quite frequently, Jim. I don't let it bother me, because it isn't worth worrying about. It shouldn't bother you either, and even if it does, professionalism demands you handle it with grace. You clearly are unable to do so, and this is certainly a drawback to hiring (and keeping) you. If this is such an emotional issue for you, I recommend you refrain from interacting with the public until you learn a little more grace and self-control. You might be interested in Vipassana meditation - it can help you to deal with those issues and find peace amid the storms. Kindest regards, Timothy.

Hi. Is Liz there? Nice to see you made 460 dollars (what I make in two weeks) in 1 day between 01/01/09 and 01/02/09. Who were you ranting at that day? Oh and I hope you don't mind me calling you Liz.

Rep. Solomon Ortiz (D-Texas) and his chief of staff accepted more than $47,000 in travel to Asia from a company called Asia Access Corp. The owners were convicted in 2006 for a scheme involving smuggling illegal aliens from Asia. The pair described their trips as “fact-finding” and trade-related.
