The House received a communication from Daniel Beard, ChiefAdministrative Officer, U.S. House of Re presentatives.Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House ofRepresentatives, Mr. Beard notified the House that he hadbeen served with a subpoena issued in the U.S. DistrictCourt for the District of Columbia for documents and thatafter consultation with the Office of the General Counsel,he determined that compliance with the subpoena wasconsistent with precedents and privileges of the House.

Mr. Hoyer asked unanimous consent that business in orderunder the Calendar Wednesday rule be dispensed with onSept. 26.Agreed to without objection.
