Founded in 1949, Mount Sinai Medical Center is the largest private independent not-for-profit teaching hospital in South Florida. Mount Sinai Heart Institute performs more of the most advanced minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgeries than any other hospital in the county; and it has the best survival rates in the state for complex, large-volume cases, according to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
In addition, Mount Sinai operates satellite centers to serve the region’s growing population. In Aventura, the hospital’s state-of-the-art freestanding emergency room meets the need for emergency care in the growing northeast Miami-Dade and the southern Broward region. In Coral Gables, the hospital’s outpatient center includes a diagnostic catheterization lab and a comprehensive sleep lab.
