The Health Department is responsible for monitoring the health status of the City of Chester by identifying key community problems. The Department informs, educates, and empowers the community regarding health issues through its various programs. Through the support and mobilization of community partnerships, the Health Department actively identifies and solves health problems. The Department also develops policies and plans that support individuals and community health efforts, while enforcing laws and regulations that ensure the protection of the City at large. Research and new insights are an important component of these objectives in finding solutions to health problems.
Anyone involved in the distribution of food to the public or those that operate certain facilities must obtain a license from the Health Department. To obtain a license one must make an application request to the Health Department and pay a $20 application fee. Prior to a license being issued, the business must comply with all other applicable code requirements. All food establishment licenses expire on December 31 of each year and thereafter must be renewed.
