The House received a communication from Mohamed Abbamin, Legislative Assistant, Office of Rep. Scott of Virginia. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Abbamin notified the House that he had been served with a subpoena issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, for testimony in a criminal case and that after consultation with the Office of General Counsel, he had determined that compliance with the subponea was consistent with the precedents and privileges of the House.

Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on November 20, 2009, at 11:48 a.m.: That the Senate made appointments to the Social Security Advisory Board.
